Impact area: Our places
We are committed to ensuring that all buildings, venues and services are accessible and inclusive for people with disability. This impact area focuses on creating environments that support safe and equitable access, enabling everyone to participate fully in work, community and public life.
Through 2 action areas, we prioritise accessibility in office fit-outs, leased spaces and event venues, while conducting regular health and safety audits to identify and address barriers.
Goal
Our places and services are accessible for people with disability.
Action 3.1
Access for people with disability is considered for all buildings and venues.
Our key activities
We will implement these activities within 1–3 years:
- Ensure any new office fit outs comply with Queensland Government Accommodation Office’s Office Accommodation Workspace and Fit-out Standards – Accessibility Guidelines.
- When entering new leases, ensure buildings are fully accessible and provide necessary support services such as hearing loops and interpreters as required.
Our milestones and measures
- Publish advice on selecting accessible venues on the website and provide comprehensive guidance on creating accessible events via the intranet.
- Establish, utilise and maintain hearing loops to support accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments.
