How we collect, use and disclose personal information
We collect and manage your personal information, and other important information, in accordance with Queensland's Information Privacy Act 2009 and the Queensland Privacy Principles.
Collection of personal information
We collect personal information only through lawful and fair means, and only when it's reasonably necessary for, or directly related to, our functions and services.
We'll usually collect your personal information directly from you, but we may collect it from someone else in limited circumstances as permitted under the IP Act. We make sure you're aware of the collection of your personal information including details about the use and disclosure of the information, at the time we collect it or as soon as possible afterwards.

Use and disclosure of personal information
We use and (where applicable) disclose your personal information only for the purpose we collected it. We won't use or disclose it for any other purpose, except in limited circumstances as permitted under the IP Act.
Engage with us anonymously or under a pseudonym
You may engage with us anonymously or by using a pseudonym (a nickname or screen-name), and we will provide you with the option of doing so, except in limited circumstances set out in the IP Act.
Security and retention of personal information
We hold your personal information securely, and we take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
We're obliged to take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify personal information that we hold about you if we no longer need it, except in limited circumstances as described in our Privacy Policy.
Accessing and amending your personal information
You have a right to access and amend personal information that we hold about you.
You may be able to access or amend your personal information by contacting the area you have been dealing with.

Privacy complaints
You can submit a privacy complaint to us if you believe we've failed to handle your personal information appropriately.
You must submit your complaint to us in writing, and you must do this within 12 months of becoming aware of the act or practice that you believe is a breach of your privacy.
