This May, the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business is proud to deliver Queensland Small Business Month 2026, with a focus on helping our small business owners build resilience and seize new opportunities.

This year's theme is all about practical support, providing the tools, skills, and connections needed to adapt to an evolving landscape and to seize new opportunities—including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Secure your place at our flagship expos

Registrations are officially open for our 3 Small Business Expos. These free, all-day events will bring workshops, tailored resources, and networking opportunities directly to you.

  • Cairns: Tuesday, 19 May at Shangri-La The Marina
  • Gold Coast: Thursday, 21 May at Mercure Resort, Carrara
  • Brisbane: Tuesday, 26 May at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre

You'll have the chance to explore a diverse range of topics, including financial management, procurement, emerging technologies and practical tips for small and family businesses.

Beyond the presentations, take advantage of one-on-one sessions with Mentoring for Growth mentors and financial counsellors, or secure your business with a cyber health check. Plus, you'll have the chance to network with fellow business owners and explore dedicated resources designed to help your small business thrive.

Support from Wallangarra to Waiben

We believe that distance should never be a barrier to success. For business owners in our regional and remote communities, the Queensland Small Business Month 2026 Digital Engagement Program ensures that support is accessible no matter where you call home.

The digital suite will be available in May and will include:

  • Interactive webinars: Deep dives into digital platforms and marketing strategies
  • 'Ask a Mentor' sessions: Virtual insights from industry leaders on emerging trends and technology
  • Actionable business videos: Short 'health checks' on essential topics like commercial leasing and business planning.

Join the Collaboration Partner Program

There is still time to play a lead role in Queensland Small Business Month. Our Collaboration Partner Program remains open for applications until 30 April.

We encourage organisations of all kinds to get involved. Whether you are a small local chamber hosting a networking breakfast, or a corporate organisation running a specialist workshop, your contribution helps build a more resilient small business community. By becoming a partner, your events will be promoted as part of the official statewide Queensland Small Business Month calendar.
