Queensland customers to benefit from open data partnership

Queenslanders now have access to essential health system information in real-time at the click of mouse or tap of a smartphone.

In a move to improve data transparency on the performance of Queensland’s 25 reporting emergency departments (ED), real-time ED wait times are available to the public at the Queensland Health Open Hospitals portal.

Data on critical information such as median patient wait times and the number of patients who have been triaged and awaiting treatment is updated every 15 to 30 minutes.

Launching a dedicated page for emergency department wait times was a key priority of the Queensland Government’s commitment to empowering communities through data, enabling Queenslanders to make informed healthcare decisions.

The initiative, led by Queensland Health, was built in partnership with the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business.

This partnership sets a new standard for accessibility and cross-collaboration between government agencies to ensure services remain accountable and responsive to the needs of the public.
